Nostalgia never looked so good!

I received my Atari 2600 for Christmas of 1978 and spent the next 4 years entrenched in everything Atari - from the games, to the manuals that were included, to the boxes themselves. Spending all of my spare change in the arcade during the days, I'd come home and play my Atari for hours before bedtime: Dodge 'Em, Night Driver, and Combat were my first. Then came the onslaught of arcade conversions; Space Invaders, Missile Command, Asteroids. Going to the mall or department store meant another chance for me to be able to look over those wonderful boxes and stare at the artwork hinting at the wonder that they contained. This book takes the reader back to those days and the overall magic and wonder of the early home videogame years. It's more than just pictures of box art - it's stories, personal accounts, history, and informative facts about the early world of Atari. This book is a must buy if, like me, you were in your "prime" years during the late 70's and early 80's. It is going to find a permanent place on my coffee table and will be a source for conversation for many years to come. Thanks to everyone who put this book together!

Awesome trip down memory lane.

I just received this book after preordering it a while ago. All I can say is that I'm extremely impressed so far. The book is much bigger than I expected and the quality is, in my opinion, very good. As for the content? I love it. I've been transported back to my childhood as the memories have been flooding back all day. If you're a fan of Atari and a nostalgic nerd, then you owe it to yourself to check this book out.

Spectacular Walk Down Memory Lane

Those of us old enough to have started gaming on the Atari 2600 remember that those graphics tended to be somewhat...underwhelming. Playing classic games like Adventure, Combat, Circus Atari and Superman it helped if your imagination could fill in the blanks, and nothing helped that process along like the packaging your game came in. The art on the boxes and instruction manuals laid the foundation for the worlds that the Atari's processor could never actually display on screen.

I've been saying for years that I'd love a collection of that art in a book and I'm thrilled that someone finally did it. Anyone who spent the late 70s hooked on these games should love seeing the high quality reproductions of the art and learning some history about the talented folks who made them all happen. If you're one of us early Gen-Xers this book is for you.

I am graduating from college and I just purchased this book to get ready for my first job after college. What information is out-of-date? I don't want to embarrass myself at my new job.

From what I have read so far, this is a good book. It offers a refresher on etiquette, and notes some things that I hadn't considered.

Different Style and Feel than Official Guide

I bought this book from Amazon after realizing that I had completed all of the passages in the Official Guide and wanted more reading comprehension practice. I thought doing a couple passages per day leading up to my exam would be a good idea, and that Aristotle's book would do the trick. But after answering questions from several passages, I honestly have to think in a different mindset than how I'd answer OG questions.

Part of it is just that the practice passages are really nothing like any of the passages I've tackled on MGMAT CAT's or the GMATPrep CAT exams. Some of the passages are dense to a point where its unnecessary; I'll read it over and over but still think that its beyond the scope of what the GMATPrep tests have displayed. A decent amount of the passages are just constructed of long sentences to through the reader off, but I think that's the wrong way to make a passage difficult. And the logic behind some of the answer choices is faulty; the fact that there are 1-2 line explanations for incorrect choices doesn't help either.

Not sure what book would be a better supplement if you've ran out of OG problems, but for me this book is bound to do more harm for my upcoming exam than good. Definitely returning.

Best book for RC

I did fairly well on RC on the actual GMAT and the credit in large part goes to RC Grail... The strategies in the book are good quite and so are the passages. Started practicing 3-4 passages every day and gradually moved from low difficulty to high difficulty level passages... I could quite see the improvement in my comprehension and accuracy level.. this book is probably the most comprehensive for RC and OG13+ RC Grail should be more than enough to prepare you for the GMAT

RC Grail- Nice to have

This is the only good RC book available in the market currently. All other books focus too much on strategy and too little on providing practice passages, whereas as this book correctly says – the only way to improve RC is through practice. The passages are also very nicely divided into three difficulty levels so one can gauge his level of improvement with more and more practice. I also found the question style in this book very similar to OG questions. The strategy section of this book is actually a bonus as it provides some really interesting tips not just for RC but for the GMAT as a whole. A thumbs up from me!

A clear and beautifully written introduction to a major philosopher

"Starting with Hume" is a beautifully written exposition of the thought of the British philosopher who so influenced modern British and American thought. The authors aim to provide students and new readers of philosophy with a thorough and comprehensible review of Hume's thought in the context of his time. In seeking clarity, the authors--both philosophy professors--also squeeze confusion and unwarranted ambiguity out of the discourse about Hume, thereby providing more experienced readers of philosophy with an intriguing gloss on Hume. This book is a delight to read. I recommend it highly.

Like the above reviewers, university quashed my taste for philosophy. I wish I had studied under Brown and Morris. Their entertaining and instructive work, stylish and lucid, while scholarly, reveals Hume's importance to modern philosophy without encumbering difficult academic language. This book is accessible. Hume's contributions have been long been casualties of ignorance, as has the Scottish Enlightenment. Regrettably, the author of the above "Book Description" labels Hume as "English;" a poignant example of current ignorance about Hume and his age. This book has reawakened my interest in Scotland's intellectual heritage and the debt that modern European thought owes to Scots. I can think of no better party favour for my Robbie Burns' Day gathering than this cutting edge book. Slante.

Immensely satisfying

Like the above reviewer, Bill, I am late to philosophy, having had only unsatisfying, thin gruel in university. This book satisfied my matured appetite for intellectual engagement. It is a fabulous introduction to Hume, providing both the historical and modern context for understanding his work. While I see its primary virtue as the accessibility of the material, I can see that it would be enjoyable to those who did pay attention in university and are now ready for a beefier read. It would also make a great gift for that troublesome person on your Christmas list who has everything.

Too complex

While marketing is a complex subject, the authors are so caught up in the sounds of their academic prose. It assumes you remember concepts from previous chapters and does not do a good job of explaining important marketing concepts.

It is very dry reading. The case studies are old even as of the print date.

This book is so complex, that it is the first text book I have read that requires you to read all the side bar information.

Unfortunately this book was chosen by a professor who is no longer teaching the class in my school's MBA program. The new teacher also feels the text book is way too complex to get much out of it. I expect material to be something I can understand, not "geek" speak!

Waste of time and money

I had to purchase this book for my marketing strategy course in business school. It is not practical. you can read pages and pages but learn nothing simply because it doesnt teach anything. It doesnt teach anything about theories as well. For example many pages are written about importance of segmentation but doesnt say what is the best strategy for segmentation.
It is waste of money.

Good reference textbook, not easy to read.

I purchased this book for my Customer and Competitive advantage class. I was able to save money by buying this paperback international edition. It is the same as the hardback one that my classmates purchased. This is not a book that you can read cover-to-cover. It has a good index that makes searching easier. The cases studies are outdated but it makes a good reference text.

Beyond Architecture

Beyond Habitat is beyond an architectural record. It offers a look into the life of a lucky and successful architect in the politicized realm of a government funded building. I thoroughly enjoyed not just the glimpse into Moshe's fascinating life, but also his views on where we might be going, architecturally and socially. I think the review from 1997 show's this perfectly, where life in the Americas has gone, and where, at one point, it may have gone. I encourage anyone with an interest in architecture, or anyone that enjoys an interesting biographical story to check this book out.

This guy has no idea what he is talking about.

Amazing as it is that someone would go to some length to find this out of print book, I would advise readers to save their effort. Unless of course you were researching unrealistic,
muddled, egotistical architects of the latter half of the 20th century. Habitat itself, though an intriguing architectural concept and a great student thesis, was a miserable failure as livable space. Mr Safdie, though still willing to beat this dead horse, does not seem capable of learning from his mistakes- he is a genuis at further profiting from them, through vehicles such as this book.
