Pretest ER 3rd edition is pretty comprehensive and tests over the major topics one needs to know for ER. Some questions may be a little easier than what may be seen on the shelf exam but overall the book still gives a good base of knowledge for the test.

Poor font choice for the book body - very hard to read.

Excellent content, great layout, thoughtful organization, BUT, dear authors, who chose/approved the Vitesse font?

The book font choice is a terrible oversight and goes against basic readability/legibility principles. The body text seems to be in Vitesse Light and is very hard to read - the letters are too thin and are floating, making reading a real effort. To add insult to injury, the case study sections are in reverse text (white letters on black background) and the same skinny letters blend in and are practically illegible! The Hints and Tips sections are in Vitesse Book it seems and that is much better, but reading the majority of the book is a struggle. I do not need reading glasses but had to move the book away and then close again to find focus. On the pages where the font is bigger, like the Introduction section, it is easier to read but still too light.

This is very unfortunate because the content of the book is wonderful - informative, contemporary, and innovative.
If the next edition would have a more appropriate font, I would certainly use it as a text in my class.

The text provides a good overview of and introduction to Info Design. It is clearly written and the sections are broken down in a concise manner with enough coverage of each portion. The example provided are appropriate and easy to understand. The layout of the book is well done with appropriate line line and spacing around each element. However, it is a challenge to read the text. The typeface, Vitesse, is too light and the word spacing is too tight, making it challenging to move through each word without effort.

Wonderful how to book for coloring enthusiasts

Wonderful how to book for coloring enthusiasts! Provides a great deal of tips, explains a number of things - such as color wheels, warm and cool colors, etc., that the average colorist probably doesn't know. Even better, once something is explained, there are exercises to practice what you have just learned! I have learned a great deal from this book, and highly recommend it to any one who is looking to improve their coloring skills.

Grade "A" Guide

This is a very well organized guide for anyone new to colored pencils. It is well illustrated and fairly comprehensive in topics covered. There are drawings on many of the pages where you can practice the technique being discussed without having to flip back and forth in the book. There are 9 perforated pages in the back of the book (printed double sided) with full size drawings by various artists. There is also a convenient index at the end for quick reference to the techniques described.

The paper is a very good quality. It's not equivalent to Enchanted Forest or Summer Nights but is thicker than the Creative Haven type books--not knocking Creative Haven books as I have several that I enjoy working in--just explaining about the paper in this book.

The experienced colorist will probably not find very many new ideas or techniques to try, but I wish I had something like this when I bought my first coloring book--can we say totally clueless? I highly recommend this book to anyone who is beginning their journey into the highly addicting coloring book hobby, or to anyone wanting to try expand their reportoire of techniques.

For a good overview of coloring and some wonderful techniques, this book is one of the best!

If you are just beginning in coloring, this is a MUST HAVE. If you have quite a bit of experience, this book is a great reference.

I must say that the previous reviewer was so disappointed over lack of content. I must disagree with her on that point. Considerable time is given to b!ending, shading, various media. I have a rather larger collection of books, and they're is not a single book that covers all of the topics that she listed. Might I suggest that if you want to learn how to color water droplets, for example, there are numerous wonderful videos on Utube. I belong to a fantastic Facebook group that is about gray scale coloring and they publish loads of videos on these topics. I keep telling them that a a book would be nice, but in the mean time, taking advantage of the videos!

Now that I am back on topic, this book is a wonderful look at coloring over all. It tells about the numerous types of media that are available and all of their plus's and minus's. (Forgive my terrible spelling).

Few books cover the basic structures of government in such a comprehensive and straightforward way. Its pedagogy (particularly the Texas Mosaics and the Guest Essays) help connect the abstract discussion of the structure of Texas government to the actual workings of politics. When this book tells the history of some aspect of Texas politics, the historical details are as interesting and as balanced as any text I have seen on the subject."

About the Author
Paul Benson received his M.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington and has served as faculty association President and Senate Chair at Tarrant County Community College. Professor Benson has worked as a journalist covering municipal politics, has been a Texas state party delegate since 1984, and recently authored an article on teaching government over the Internet for a monograph published by ITC. In addition to teaching, he runs a political consulting and campaign business with his wife, Carolyn.

Anthony Giardino received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a former police officer. In addition to teaching, Professor Giardino works as a policy and training consultant for several North Texas law enforcement agencies and writes extensively on application of search, seizure and arrest practices in Texas.

The Ultimate Historical Novel

Scaramouche is not only Rafael Sabatini's crowning literary achievement, it is one of the most engaging, thought-provoking and exciting historical novels ever written.
Andre-Louis Moreau, (or Scaramouche, as he later becomes known), is a fascinatingly complex protagonist. Courageous, intelligent, quick-witted and intensely moral, Moreau is a character whose personal quest for revenge against the villainous Marquis de La Tour d'Azyr is a masterfully-woven story of swashbuckling action, romance and social conflict during the turbulent years of the French Revolution.
Well-born lawyer. Fugitive. Dramatic actor. Expert swordsman. Impassioned, mob-inciting orator. Revolutionary politician. Sabatini sets Moreau upon an intriguing path of fate, development and discovery, a fictionalized yet compelling account of a single man's ultimate test of human character as the world around him spirals into madness.
Sabatini has often been compared to Alexandre Dumas (author of the Three Musketeers, the Count of Monte Cristo) as a master of historical fiction. Though I believe Dumas to be the finest action-adventure writer of all time, and though some of Sabatini's other works (which I have not yet read) have been criticized as overly melodramatic, Sabatini has created in Scaramouche an historical action-adventure novel that transcends Dumas (and all modern action-adventure writers, for that matter) in that Moreau, his protagonist, is a thoroughly multi-dimensional character. Though Moreau is driven by his hatred and his quest for revenge, the spirit of his character is not defined by them, and the conflict of these passions with his ideals brings depth and substance to his exploits on the Theatre Feydau, the fencing halls of Paris, the floor of the National Assembly and his pursuit of the beautiful Aline de Kercadiou.

An engrossing historical romance.

When his best friend, a young clergyman, is killed in a mockery of a duel by an arrogant noble, just to quiet his eloquent expressions of democratic ideals, Andre-Louis Moreau vows revenge. From that point, through meteoric careers as a consummate actor and scenario writer, then as a fencing master, and finally a politician, the brilliant Moreau keeps thwarting the aims of the aristocratic Marquis de la Tour d'Azyr. However, the nobleman causes pain to Moreau as well, and the time must come when the two will meet to settle their enmity once and for all. You are not likely to guess how their confrontation finally turns out. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this swashbuckling novel is exciting throughout, and it presents one of the most dashing heroes in fiction, a man who can fight equally well with his mind, his mouth, his pen, and his sword, a man who stirs up events wherever he goes. I can't decide whether I like this novel or CAPTAIN BLOOD better, but these two books of Sabatini's are among the very best adventure novels.

A great adventure written by a master

Sabatini is ranked with the great adventure writers of all time, with Alexandre Dumas, Baroness Orczy, and Robert Louis Stevenson. With one of the best opening lines ever (right up there with "It was the best of times....") Scaramouche is his masterpiece.
Andre Louis vows revenge upon the wrongful death of a young clerical friend by the wicked Marquis de la Tour d'Azyr. Taking up his dead friend's cause, he is charged with treason when he incites a crowd to riot. He flees his home and his love, and joins a troup of old school actors. Needless to say, Andre Louis takes on the role of Scaramouche, the rogue, and this way continues to thwart his enemy. He later becomes a fencing master, and...I won't spoil the plot for you, but I have never read a book with such an effective climax. Andre Louis is one of the immortal heroes of all time.
