About the Author
Elizabeth Moran is a graduate of the American Feng Shui Institute and the author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the I Ching.
Master Joseph Yu has been practicing feng shui and Chinese astrology for over thirty years, and is recognized as one of the top five classical feng shui masters in the world.
Master Val Biktashev founded the American Healing Arts Institute in 1997. He studied with a world-renowned classical feng shui master and has performed nearly 2,000 feng shui readings with successful results.

Great book or beginners and those interested in Chinese arts

I purchased this book to help me with a last minute Feng Shui project I was working on in school. This book was surprisingly detailed and thorough. As a complete "idiot" to feng shui, I was impressed with how invasive this art really was. I ended up keeping this book, and I still have it on my shelf. It's a great reference on redecorating your room. For those, visually-oriented readers, this book has lots of pictures and diagrams in this book that will help you achieve some degree of harmony to your room. Aside from the introduction, general history, and quick how-to's, there are different sections in the book depending on what you are trying to achieve; and as you go further into the book it gets quite detailed.
I'll tell you, though, if you are not deeply interested in the art of feng shui, it's not a book you are going to read everyday; nor would you read it from front to back each time you pick it up. This book is more like a how-to manual you would keep in your home. I would say that for most people, this book will turn into a bathroom-reader or something you plop on your shelf for quick referencing. The latter is what I use it for now. While this book impresses to me that it is mainly for a women audience, I would not be surprised if a handy-man or a man with a taste for design and arts kept this as an inspiration for his next project.

Not just for "Idiots"

This is my first purchase of the "Idiot" series of books. The title alone has kept me from purchasing one; however, after this book was recommended on a website regarding feng shui, I decided to give it a try. This publication is very helpful in clarifying what is "real" feng shui. It provides a historical foundation and backdrop to the use of feng shui in the home. It dispels misunderstandings about "quick" fixes without doing a proper analysis. It does require patience because the authors approach this topic very methodically. I find myself repeatedly reading sections to make sure I understand the underlying principles and applications. The hardest part is analyzing the information. After reading the chapters on Flying Stars, I am still somewhat lost. I expected to be able to complete an analysis of my home and be able to apply the information having confidence in my results, but I don't. I am at this point unsure whether or not there is a way to competently use flying star methodology without engaging in further study and perhaps mentoring. This causes me to be cautious in moving forward to implement changes in my home without further study. Good book and I recommend it as a starting point. The book provides additional resources to assist with further exploration of feng shui.

not for dummies

As you get into the mid to later chapters of this book, it is EXTREMELY difficult & takes a mathematician to do what is needed. I even had a friend help who is an engineer...............this book is not for dummies but for advanced Feng Shui individuals!
